For this creature project, my focus was on creating something which would disgust or scare the viewer. I am hoping to expand on this design further soon, adding apparel, and doing some sketches to show more angles of the creature. how it moves, and indicate how it may function in a game setting. I want this to be able to tell a story, so I have researched symbols and mythology to help with ideas. Initially, I was going to base it loosely off of the aria, which has features like a gecko, and supposedly was an omen of disaster, however these did not look as frightening as I wanted, so I iterated on this and ended up with a very different design. That said, I am really happy with how this is going. I want to design the environment it inhabits soon as well. In order to tell a story, I want to only use visual elements, so in a game you could theorise what it is just through the experience, rather than exposition, as this would be much more scary. This would also give an opportunity form me to use these concepts to design a keyframe, to sell the story and atmosphere. Another focus on this project was to practice my rendering ability, and while I still have a way to go, I am really happy with the progress I am making!
